Formosa Plastics Corporation was founded in 1954. At start-up in 1957, its plant produced 4 MT/day of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) resin, the smallest PVC plant in the world at that time. Soon afterwards, Nan Ya Plastics Corporation and terminal products production plant were set up. After more than 10 years of effort, Formosa Plastics Corporation has become one of the largest PVC resin manufacturers in the world. This led to the prosperous development of the local petrochemical industry and Plastic processing industry. The Diversified development of Formosa Plastics Group started with plastics industry, and gradually enters into petrochemical, fiber, textile, electronics, transportation, heavy industry, energy, automobile and biotechnology industry, also expands International investment. In the process of corporate development, Basing on the tenet of “taking from society and benefit society”, Formosa Plastic started to devote itself to medical, education and other social and public welfare undertakings to give back to society.

           With over 50 years of development, the Formosa Plastics Group becomes the largest private enterprise in Taiwan. The Group includes Formosa Plastics, Nan Ya, Formosa Chemicals, Formosa Petrochemical Corporation, and more than 20 other investments in Taiwan, the United States, mainland China, Vietnam and Indonesia.
